COVID Testing

COVID Testing services offered in Fullerton, CA

COVID-19 testing continues to play a major role in efforts to control the spread of the virus that causes the disease. At Ascada Health in Fullerton, California, the team offers fast, same-day results for COVID testing, including molecular and antigen tests. To schedule your COVID-19 test, call the office or book an appointment online today.

What is COVID testing?

COVID-19 testing includes the diagnostic tests that check for an active infection or a history of an infection. Ascada Health provides COVID testing for an active infection. These tests are called viral tests and include:

Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test

The PCR COVID-19 test is a molecular test that looks for genetic material associated with the virus that causes COVID-19 — severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2).

This test is the gold standard test for COVID-19 because it provides reliable results.

Antigen test

Antigen tests, or rapid tests, look for proteins associated with the virus. This test provides results within 15 minutes. However, results from this COVID-19 test are less reliable in people without COVID-19 symptoms.

When do I need COVID testing?

Schedule a telemedicine screening at Ascada Health to see if you need COVID testing. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recommends you get tested if you:

  • Have COVID-19 symptoms
  • Were in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19
  • Plan on traveling or just returned from traveling
  • Need screening for school, work, or some other event

The team may also suggest COVID-19 testing after completing a telemedicine screening.

What happens during COVID testing?

COVID testing at Ascada Health is quick and painless. The process for obtaining samples for COVID testing is the same whether you’re getting the PCR or antigen test.

Using a soft-tipped nasal swab, your provider collects specimens for testing from each nostril. The collection part of the test takes only a few minutes.

After the team collects your sample, they test it for COVID.

What happens after COVID testing?

What happens after COVID testing may depend on the results of your test and your symptoms. If you have no symptoms and your results are negative, you can resume your usual routine.

If you test positive for COVID, the team spends time talking to you about isolation and symptom monitoring. If you’re at risk of developing serious symptoms from COVID-19, the team may recommend COVID antibody infusion therapy, which they provide at the office.

To find out more about COVID testing, call Ascada Health or schedule an appointment online today.
